In certain situations, a licensed Florida salvage motor vehicle dealer or registered secondary metals recycler may accept a qualifying derelict vehicle when the title is unavailable. Florida Form HSMV 82137 is used to apply for a Derelict Motor Vehicle Certificate.
A vehicle generally must be at least 10 model years old, valued at less than $1,000 and in a condition where its highest or primary value is for parts or scrap metal.
